Because of her efforts in helping foster youth, critically-acclaimed actress Tiffany Haddish will be honored by Living Advantage Inc. at the event “Intro to Robo” on March 22 at the USC Galen Center. At this interactive robotics exhibition, “Intro to Robo” will provide the opportunity for children of all ages to get exposed to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) at an early stage in life. Long before her film success for her breakout role in Girls Trip, she faced enormous hardship at age 9 when her mother was diagnosed with mental illness after a car accident, and Haddish had to go into foster care. When she moved from home to home, she kept her belongings in a trash bag, which made her feel worthless. After a social worker pushed her to attend a comedy camp, she discovered her passion for performing. Today, she is an advocate for helping foster youth and has most recently partnered with Living Advantage, Inc. for her Suitcase Drive for Foster Youth, where she collected suitcases in which foster youth can keep their belongings. Because of her inspiring story and her commitment to bettering foster youth lives, Living Advantage Inc. will be honoring her at the event "Intro to Robo." “Every child who is removed from their parents deserves to have a suitcase and a safe place to lay their head,” says Haddish about her suitcase drive.
